Might be best if I bring some grey yarn/thread to the con & get into a huddle with you there? I've got some silver-grey cotton thread/yarn that might do. Double-sided tape to attach it, maybe? (I'm thinking a strip of tape down the centre of the head, lay strands of yarn across, then plait them each side. Not sure how to fake a centre part, though...)
Center parting is not vital but if you sew the yarn onto some tape then make the braids that way then the cotton should pull it down enough to give the impression. I can then glue the tape to the head.
This is the style I'm thinking http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x479/ohsoprettytweet/Hair%20Tutorials/DSC_0577.jpg
I've only got a mini-Sam to practise on, so I'm not certain what would work best - but I've also got grey embroidery floss, which would be easy to work with. I'll give it a go with both that and the yarn.
Thanks. I'm sure you can work something out.If you want to pick up a full size sam to work on then I'll buy it off you. Need to refill the stash anyway.
Smashing. Tie the ends with a nice primary colour, red, blue, brown and white are already being used for part of the outfit so something to go with that, and that will be great.
