Had to send Hal off with a travel pill today. Someone gave him chocci biccis Friday afternoon with unfortunate results on the way home. I don't want to have to keep doping him up for the journey so I went down to the pharmacy after he left and had a chat. They've suggested Sea Bands acupressure wrist bands. http://www.sea-band.com/UK/uk_seaband.htm I've picked a pair up but is there anyone out there got any experience of how well these work?

Mythbusters tested a similar product and found it to not work. The one thing they found that did work was ginger.

The pharmacist said that they don't always work but do seem to be good if they do. All a bit moot really since he refused to wear them this morning. I've given him some Polo mints to suck as the oil of peppermint in them may help and I'll check the paper shop for gingernuts.

they worked extremely well for my niece.

Other option is crystalised ginger.

Not sure if I could get him to eat crystalized ginger, maybe the biscuits that Mike suggests will work. At least he will eat them.

Shamenka suggests liquorice root - advantage is it's naturally sweet and tastes like a sweetie anyway.

She also suggests trying to get him on a gluten free diet. (you know what she's like about her gluten free diet - according to her half the ills of the Western World are due to gluten in the diet)

Shamenka suggests liquorice root.

She also suggests trying to get him onto a gluten free - you know how she is about her gluten free diet. She's had Scott on it for years and swears it helps with his ADHD and other behavioural symtoms (at one point one of his guidance counsellors suggested he might be Aspbergers) and now she's got Derek on it too.

Anne swears by ginger biscuits (and her seasickness is legendary in fandom).

I'll see if I can get some ginger nuts then. He likes them anyway.

Try using a walkman/MP3 player it works for me. Admittedly not perfectly but better than travel pills.
It usually has to be a mix of vocal and instrumental, for some reason purely instrumental pieces aren't as effective.

Not sure if music would work with Hal. It's one of the things he can get upset by at times and yet be perfectly happy with at others. What stresses him can be very unpredictable.
