My rather cynical suggestion is don't worry about it.

I dislike reading tweats on LJ. I like longer, more interesting posts, which is why I don't subscribe to Twitter.

I have been known to defriend people who post nothing but tweets.

You make a good point. Since I haven't had much I wanted to muse on in length I've been seeing tweets as a way of saying I'm still here and get the occasional comment from non tweeters but I can see how it can become annoying.
