Mungo update 8

The beast appears to be getting better. When he went on his latest excursion to that place he came back with a perfect glucose curve and instructions to keep up with the minimum insulin dose as it won't do any harm and to make an appointment when we run low for another check-up.

The vet thinks what has happened is Mungo's pituitary gland was acting up and produced something that fits into his insulin receptors, so the insulin he naturally produces didn't get a chance to work. This may have stopped... for now. Next time he goes to the vet's they'll do a slightly different test which will - hopefully - confirm this.

For now Mungo is his usual annoying self, demanding raw chicken with menaces when himself was putting a stir-fry together tonight.

Excellent news. Cats are 'interesting' critters to regulate on insulin, as they can go in and out of remission, seemingly at will. I'm guessing they'll run a fructosamine test, to see how he's averaged over the last month. It was able to spot when we could take Kosh off insulin completely for a chunk of time.

Good to hear he is doing a little better. I hope it continues.

Meanwhile, my cats are settling back down again - one of them went missing for over 5 weeks, only 9 weeks after I adopted them.
He made it very plain that he preferred his rescuer, and especially his rescuer's large house and tree-filled garden. But he has had some food treats to help persuade this is nearly as good.
