Some signs of impending winter

1) The shed needs clearing out so we can get the patio furniture in there.
2) What passes for a lawn is disapearing under the leaf fall from next doors trees
3) The credit card is smarting after having to buy new winter coats and pyjamas for the kids cos they've been growing again...
4) Having to get up before dawn to kick same out the door to walk to school.
5) Ladybirds and spiders moving in for the warmth.
6) New drafts from under the floorboards telling me to get the mastic gun out again.
7) The bloody boilers on the fritz again!

8) ...and my workstation chair has just failed gracefully: a small "crack" as some sintered metal gave way, then it slooooly pitched me onto the floor.

So it's scouring the interwebs tomorrow for reconditioned Hermann Miller. I'm thinking Captain Vimes' boots here: pay up front for something that's guaranteed to last years rather than fork out for a replacement annually. (However, will be passing by Staples in case there's something that might do in a pinch...)
